Getting to Know the Kinds of Blog

By Bruno Auger On Posted under Blogging

There may be millions of bloggers in the internet but how many in the blogosphere (the world of bloggers in the web) do know there are actually different kinds of a blog?

It started like a diary – a young girl tells her dreamy story about a crush that just passed by her and she broadcasts to the whole world how sad it is for being not noticed.  Or a man writes in his blog site how hurt he was from a broken relationship but struggles because men are not supposed to cry. Sometimes it could be a story of a mother who watches her child smile at every peek-a-boo she makes. From their original personal touch, it seems that blogs have matured with time as well.

The following are few of the different genres of blogs that you never realized you already have written and they have names.

There are the visuals which are quite interesting because unlike the ordinary ones, they offer something for your eyes.

1. Ever heard of vlogs?  These are short videos or those common blogs composed of texts but include videos in it.  This kind of blog may be popular but because it is more tedious to do, though more exciting to watch and read, many would rather settle with plain words and spaces for their sites.
2. Photoblogs, as the name expresses, are photos (may be accompanied with texts) that express a message from artists particularly photographers.  Since some of them claim to be men/women of few words they do blogging their way.  This genre emerged in the 2000s as digital cameras and camera phones have become popular and accessible even to ordinary people.

Going back to text-oriented blogs, here are kinds that are also widespread.  Now, you know you have to categorize your blog.

1. Political blog is a serious kind.  As mentioned earlier, blogs have matured with time.  From the dramatic and for-all-other-people-care personal online journals, the more opinionated bloggers prefer to express their say through political blogs.  These mainly contain topics about the news, pressing issues, etc.

2. Business blogs relate to the internet as the new marketplace of the modern world.  Aside from company websites that are developed to give Avenues for customers and sellers to interact, blogs are also becoming common tool for communication and marketing strategies by entrepreneurs.  These usually are linklogs (those that comprise links in the text) at the same time to direct readers to the business sites upon one click.

3. Microblogs are classified and called such for its size.  These Are the short blog posts by bloggers usually only a paragraph long if not a sentence long.

The list can still go on for you to know that the types of a blog are also growing in number.  There are the travel blogs, health blogs, linklogs, and literary blogs, among others.  As you have noticed some of them are named According to their purpose, their content, and size.  The next time you post a new entry to your site, why don’t you test your self and see if you can determine what is the kind you are writing.  Or how about try out writing all the different kinds of blogs for a challenge?
