How to Make your Blog a Success

By Bruno Auger On October 6, 2008 Posted under Blogging

You claim to be a blogger only because you are maintaining a blog.  But is it worth all the typing and thinking when there seem to be no one viewing your entries?  Now, before you dwell into the desperate state of self-pity after agreeing that you are the only one enjoying your blogs, don’t.  Your world does not end there because no one in this world started to be good right there and then anyway.  Perhaps you just need these simple tips to brighten up your face and brighten up your blogs.

Why are you maintaining a blog in the first place?  Is it because you are really interested at writing or are you simply one of those who want to fit in in some common crowd.  Well, if you answer yes to the latter, then you better try a little soul searching because maybe this is not the thing you really want.  You can’t be too pretentious to yourself and say “I’m a good writer, I’m A good writer” when everyone else around you are not nodding their heads at all.  Try out something that you want to do more.

On the other hand, if you think things can still go better with practice, then do so.  The only best thing to do with something you seem to be worst at is to keep practicing and learning from others.  Read a lot and write a lot.

Be yourself or live a lie all your life.  Now, don’t write something that you are not very familiar of.  If you are not the political-oriented person, don’t pretend to be one just because you want to be known as someone intellectual.  Personal blogs can still be effective so long as you write them well and true.  If you are not a very good writer, try out photoblogs or vlogs (video blogs).  Maybe you are up to something bigger at filmmaking or photography blogging.

Since we are now talking about visual aspects such as photography and stuff like that, let your blog site look good.  This is one way to attract attention from readers especially those who are not very fond of reading.  Remember that most of the time, people can be more visual.

Sometimes, the problem could not be all yours.  Maybe you are simply in a blog site that does not have good number of audience.  Be choosy with the site you want to be a member of.  More often than not, the quality of site may be the quality of subscribers.

And lastly, interact with other bloggers.  Comment and react on other blogs so that you will get feedbacks for your own blogs.  You might also want to encourage your readers to give constructive criticism so that you will grow as a blogger and as a writer eventually. Now that you have published your work in the internet, this is not anymore yours alone.  After all, what’s the point of publishing it when you are too conceited not to mind other bloggers.  Thank those who visit and read your blog.

Blog for Beginners

I think I have pretty much said the same thing on my latest article. Many people jump into the blogwagon not knowing what they want or what they are good at.

Hey, did you just move to wordpress? I remember that you were on blogspot not too long ago…

Anyway, thanks for leaving comments on my blog and since you are on wordpress, you’ll see more of me around here.

Yan
PS: Ever thought of installing ‘Subscribe to Comment’? You know I tend to forget which blogs I have left my comments.

Ya most people tend to do that. No I’ve been on wordpress since I started this blog. There was a bug in the coding before so you couldn’t see it on FireFox.

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I though I might have that plugin but I guess I will install it

Good to see the ’subscribe’ option is in place now. I don’t have to worry that I might have forgotten my comments anymore. You’ll be surprised what this nifty plugin can do for your blog, yet many are still unaware of its benefit.

Thanks for the heads up Yan.
I appreciate the suggestions from other bloggers that are willing to help another blogger out.

Good stuff, here!

You are so right that you cannot fake it. Well, that’s not totally true. You can fake it, but not for long.

Eventually, people will begin to see right through you. That isn’t what you want at all. You want people to respect you for being yourself and providing some great value to lives and business, if applicable, of your readers.

Keep it going!

Yes people do eventually see through the fakeness and they just put you to the wayside after.

the best advice for a successful blog would probably be to “network with bloggers” ..

So very true. The more you branch out to other bloggers the more success everyone will have

Some good points. Consistent quality content, networking and hard work is the key to successful blog.

Darren has written in his biography how he used to blog 14 to 16 hours in the beginning and used to blog consistently without a break.

That last point is very important Bruno. I think that one of the most important things on blogging is to keep in touch with other bloggers. Building a good relationship with them will help you to enhance your blog and its productivity.

An as you said, practice is all in this lifestyle. You never stop learning…

Thats so true Javo.

At first I never did but soon relized a blog needs to have active people commenting and the owner himself being active a responding to his readers.

I learn something new everyday reading other blogs. It always interesting seeing how someone else sees things
